| that uneven cranking speed kinda worries me. Might indicate uneven cylinder pressures, or some plugs and/or injectors not firing. You have a good battery? And you don't need to be playing with the throttle when starting a fuel injected engine. If it won't start on its own, there's other issues at hand. Was it running rough before? Did you adjust the TPS? If you do have air in the cooling system, the Coolant Temp sensor won't be able to read the engine temp, and that'll make it idle higher than normal. Make sure all your intake hoses are clamped tightly too, from the MAS all the way to the throttle bodies. I would agree that it doesn't sound like a rod knock, and I'd be looking toward valve train noise too. But it almost sounds like more than one lifter. Also, check to make sure your fan isn't hitting something. Look for abrasions on the fan blades or any parts that might come close to the fan once the engine is started. Get your cooling system and idle problems under control, and the noise will be easier to pinpoint.
